Each Week An Alpha Looks Like This

Dinner

6:00-6:40 PM — Dinner & Introductions

Every week starts with a good meal. For those bringing kids, they are welcome to join you for dinner, then drop them off around 6:20pm with our child care team for the evening.

watch

6:40-7:00 PM — Small Films with Big Ideas

Each Alpha evening features a 20 minute film, designed to introduce topics and get the conversation going. These short films explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as, "Does God speak to people?" and, "Who is Jesus?"

discuss

7:00-8:00 PM — Discuss the Questions that Matter to You

The entire night builds towards the discussion after the film. Everyone gets into a smaller group (10ish people) and your host will lead conversations in where you can share your thoughts about faith and life and hear from others in your group. You can feel free to say whatever you like or as little as you like, it’s up to you. We require everyone to respect other people’s opinions.

FAQs

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of conversations that explore life, spirituality and faith in a fun, non-judgmental and open environment.

How do I know if Alpha is for me?

The best way to know is to just try it. Alpha was designed for anyone who may be skeptical or curious, and for those with major doubts around faith. If you just want to talk about the real issues of life with new friends, this might be for you!

What can I expect if I sign up?

You can expect to meet and make new friends over the course of eight weeks; we will meet every Thursday for dinner, and watch a short film together before discussing about what we just watched. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. There will be a place for anyone with kids (potty trained to 5th grade) to hang out and play while you are in small group. It's a fun evening where there is no pressure to come back each week.

Where do we meet?

We will be meeting on the outdoor patio at Anthem Church. It is the building which is located right next to the big white tent.

What about my kids?

We are providing free childcare for potty trained through 5th grade for anyone who wants to join us for the evening. For the meal, they can sit with you, or you can eat with the Child care team. We have games, crafts, and a playground to keep the kids entertained while you get to take a breath and have conversations with adults! Help us plan ahead by giving us a heads up that you'll have kids with you when you register.

What about Covid protocols?

We are meeting in an outdoor, open air environment with lots of space. Since it is outdoors, we are not requiring masks. But, if you'd like to wear a mask, you are absolutely welcome to do so! This is a judgement free zone, regardless of whether you're wearing a mask or not. For kids, we will be having child care in a combination of indoor playrooms and our outdoor playground. We encourage parents to feel free to decide whether or not to have their kids wear a mask.

What does it cost?

Everything is free! The people of Anthem Church are picking up the tab.
