Christmas Eve Volunteers Needed

We still have several holes that need to filled to help make each of our Christmas Eve gatherings a success this year. There are two ways that you can jump in and help make the day awesome:

Dessert Corner
We are looking for bakers! We need about 15-20 people to make finger desserts (no cake or pies please). Each person would need to bring 2 dozen of your favorite holiday treats. Use the link below to sign up! If you have any questions, contact Barbara Grant Gould.

Serve at a Gathering
We are also looking for greeters, coffee makers, dessert host, and more, all with smiling faces! If you are available to help, follow the link below to sign up. If you have any questions, contact Celeste Scott.

Anthem Kids Connect

We're excited to continue with Anthem Kids Connect this week. Our hope for this time is to provide kids with opportunities to connect with each other and some of their Anthem Kids leaders. We'll catch up with each other, pray, learn about Jesus and enjoy some other fun things during our gathering together.

Each week we'll send an email to parents with a prompt and info on how to prepare for the time together. If you have any questions, email christy@anthemchurch.org.

Christmas with Anthem

Merry Christmas Anthem Church! We are so excited to bring our community together for two gatherings (outdoors & online) on Thursday, December 24th at 4 and 6 PM. There’s a line from “O Holy Night” that says, “A weary world rejoices...”. That line pings many of our hearts as we have both felt the weariness of the world, yet we rejoice in the salvation that has come through Jesus Christ. Our hope is to provide a safe place for our community to explore the peace and joy that Jesus Christ brings into our lives as we give ourselves completely to him.

Giving cheerfully and sacrificially is a part of worship at Anthem. We give generously because God has first been generous to us.

At this time of year, many people are interested in making a “year end gift” to the church. Because we desire to be fully accountable for how we steward finances, and to be in compliance with the IRS, here are the deadlines for giving to be counted as donated in 2020.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their worship of God by contributing financially to Anthem Church. If you are interested in making an online donation, please do that here: anthemchurch.org/give

Hope you are able to join us in person or online!

Worship + Tech Teams

This past year our tech needs as a church have grown exponentially with live-streaming and setting up weekly in the tent. While our needs have doubled, this team has numerically remained the same. We are looking for people who are willing to be trained to join the team. This Sunday we will have a lunch and training session following our morning gathering.

If you are interested in helping or learning more, email Rob at rob@anthemchurch.org to RSVP.  NO experience necessary!

The Toddler Zone will begin this Sunday! We will have an enclosed area adjacent to the tent for 0-3 year olds to get their energy out and play with toys while allowing parents to stay engaged during the gathering. At this time it won’t be the typical drop off, but we are asking parents to stay with their kids.

If you have any questions feel free to email grace@anthemchurch.org. We can’t wait to gather with you all on Sunday!

Community Serve week

The week following Easter we are engaging our city and neighborhoods with tangible displays of God’s love and compassion. Check out this video from Rob to hear more about one of the locations we will be serving: Gabriel's House.

Child Dedication

One of the biggest joys we have as a church is seeing parents choose to commit to raising their children in a way that points them to their loving Savior Jesus, and helping them find their way back to God in their homes.

Our next child dedication is scheduled for May 2nd. If you are interested in dedicating your kid(s) or want to know more about how child dedications at Anthem, click on the links below and let us know by Apr 28th.

Ak sunday breakout:

Hello Anthem Families and welcome to the Kids Breakout! This Sunday will be our first gathering and I wanted to share a bit about what we will be teaching and doing during our time together. One big change is that kids and our team of amazing volunteers will be learning and going through the same scripture that the adults are each Sunday. The hope is that you as a family will be able to have conversations and engage with the same bible passages each week and that when the kids are in service they can continue their learning of the book John with us all! Each week that the Kids Breakout meets, we will have worship, a Bible lesson, snack, and an activity or craft. I also wanted to include a list of amazing resources that might further supplement our study of John and the life of Jesus! Always feel free to reach out with any questions, needs, or suggestions!

Blessings!

Bible study methods class

Our Bible Study Methods class is starting next week! Reading the bible is a major part of being part of the church, but sometimes it can be hard to understand or we feel like we hit a plateau in our understanding. If you would like to learn how to get more out of your bible reading, or if you would like some practices to help understand the bible better then this class is for you. Steve Larson will be teaching a 4-week class that will run weekly on Thursday evenings starting April 29th at 7pm.

We will meet at the Anthem office with up to 20 people. If we have more, we will meet it in the chapel.

If you have any questions, contact ahmad@anthemchurch.org

Livestream Gathering

We will livestream our Arcturus Gathering at 9:30am. Join us from wherever you are to worship, open the Scriptures, and be stirred toward actions and a deeper life with God.

We'll take communion together at the end of our gathering, have your elements ready to respond in worshipping the Lord together.

TEACHING SERIES

The book of John is written so that everyone who reads it would believe that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), the Son of God. As we study this amazing book together, we hope to grow in our understanding of Jesus’ life, teaching, death and resurrection so that we can live as his disciples. He is the way, the truth and the life... so we look to him to know how we should live!

Some ideas and resources for our time in the gospel of John:

- Read through the gospel of John in one sitting (approx. 2 hrs)

- Use a scripture journal as we walk through the book together; we'll have copies of this journal on Sunday at the welcome table if you would like to grab one.

- Watch the two part bible project videos on the book of John:
1. John - Pt 1
2. John - Pt 2

Do you ever get the feeling that when you read the Bible, you're not feeling what you're "supposed" to be feeling, or getting out of it what you think you're "supposed" to be getting out of it? Reading the Bible is a major part of being part of the church, but sometimes it can be hard to understand or we feel like we hit a plateau in our understanding. If you would like to learn how to get more out of your Bible reading, or if you would like some practices to help understand the Bible better then this class is for you.

Lead: Ahmad Milby
Cost: $10-$15 for the book
(Living by the Book)
Meeting Details: This class will only run for 4-weeks on Mondays at 7-9PM starting July 5th and will meet at the Anthem TO office.

Jul 6 - Aug 3

Tuesdays @ 7pm

No matter what your workplace context looks like, you have a unique opportunity to bring the hope of Jesus into your organization, your team, or your customers. While there are some common principles of living your work life in a missional way regardless of your job, there are some unique opportunities and challenges depending on your role, and we want to help equip you for whatever role you're in.

The format of this class will look a little different. The first week, we'll host a night that is relevant to all people in the workplace. While everyone would be expected to join the first week and welcome to attend all other weeks as well, we anticipate that you'll come to week 1, and likely only one of the remaining weeks. While there will be someone sharing their story, sharing best practices, etc., we really see the true value in these nights being in the conversations and Q&A time after the start of the nights!

Week 2 - Bringing Jesus to Your Organization
Week 3 - Bringing Jesus to Your Team or Co-Workers
Week 4 - Bringing Jesus to Your Customers or Clients
Week 5 - Bringing Jesus to Your School

Lead: Caleb Womack + others
Cost: $5

Meeting Details: This class will meet on Tuesdays at 7-9PM starting July 6th and will meet at the Anthem TO office.

Jul 8 - Aug 5

Thursdays @ 7pm

The gospel is not just the message we proclaim, it is also the message that shapes our identity, relationships, the nature of the church, mission and everyday life.

As one of the foundational courses in the Porterbrook curriculum (click here for more info on Porterbrook), this is a great opportunity to get a fi rsthand look at what the Porterbrook year of training would look like.

In this hybrid learning model, you'll access curriculum online or in a workbook, meet with a small group of people to discuss what you're learning, and write one small paper to share what God has been teaching you through the class.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this Summer School class, but if you're considering joining Porterbrook in the fall, then we would uniquely love for you to join us for this as well!

Lead: Ryan Hinkle
Cost: $30
Meeting Details:
This class will meet on Thursdays at 7PM starting July 8th and will meet at the Anthem TO office.

Summer School

This summer, we're really looking forward to investing in some highly practical training in a few different areas of life. We said at the beginning of 2021 that we want to put a big focus on the "how-to's" of a life of faith, and Summer School is an amazing opportunity to make this happen. We are really excited and expectant for how God will use peoples’ gifts and passions to show us how the Gospel applies to all areas of our lives.

Each of our classes will meet in person (with a Zoom option) primarily at the Anthem TO office to learn and grow together. Classes will begin the week of July 5th.

Registrations for class will close July 1st so use the link below to sign up today!

Please rsvp so we know how much food to have and to best prepare any kids. Childcare is available for kids 10 and under. (supervised play on the playground).

Park + Beach Days

Bring your kids and come hang out this summer for a park or beach day with us! We love taking different opportunities to build relationships together with our Anthem family. We know that God listens to our prayers, and that He loves to respond when we seek Him. Join us for this incredible time together in the tent.

Bringing kids? Great! While there will be no childcare, we LOVE families praying together so your kids are welcome to come and participate with you.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Community Group Sign Ups

We are so excited to start another year of Community Groups! For anyone who is not currently in a community group, signs up to join groups are open now. Our groups will kick off their first gathering the week after Labor Day Week (September 12-18).

Our vision is that a Community Group will be a place you are known and loved because the Gospel is real. Not only can you be known and loved by God, but you can be known and loved by your brothers and sisters in Jesus. This is where we move past casual side hugs and high fives, to smaller groups where we can be intentional in our conversations and interactions.

So if you aren’t in a Community Group, join one! Our groups will be up and published on our site starting on Sunday. Use the link below!

If you have any questions, you can email ahmad@anthemchurch.org

How to represent Jesus as a Coach training

A good coach can make an incredible lasting impact on their players and families. It rarely is their ability to teach the game that changes lives, it's everything else. As a follower of Jesus, we want to step into these roles to represent Jesus, but how? This Sunday we are having a Coaches training & discussion to answer that question. For any type of coach from D1 to kids, we will be talking about how to love and influence players and adults rob@anthemchurch.org

WHEN: Sunday Sept 12th 7pm @ Anthem Office

We are planning a camping trip for our TO church family in June. We have reserved Emma Wood Group Campsite in Ventura from June 9th-12th. We have reserved their 3 group tent camping spots that allows for 120 people, and their RV group camping spot that allows for 50 people for a total of 170.

We need to know how many people are interested to see if this is going to work for our church. If we do not have enough people interested then we will cancel part or all of the reservation. So if you are interested please let us know! If you know other people in our church who would be interested, but may not be reading the Weekly, please forward this to them.

We will have more details about cost later right now we are looking to gauge interest and have everyone save the date.

Alpha Interest Meeting

Alpha is a fun dinner and group conversation series centered around exploring the big questions of life, spirituality, and faith from a Christian lens in a laid back and non-judgmental environment. It is for those who do not consider themselves Christians or for those who are rethinking their faith.

We are excited to launch Alpha after Easter, but we need your help. We need a handful of different types of people: cooks, organizers, and friendly people to help make the nights work. If you are curious to know more about the why and how of Alpha or would like to help in some way, come to the Interest Meeting!

WHEN: Thu, March 31st @ 6:30PM
WHERE: Anthem Offices (2667 N. Moorpark Rd, Ste 200)

Intro to membership

Over the last couple years many of you have come to be a part of our Anthem family. We are so excited that you are here with us and we look forward to seasons of life and ministry together. Throughout our history we have run a session called Intro to Membership that describes who we are as a church, what we believe and how that impacts the way we do life together. We are putting together an opportunity for as many of you as are able to walk through this with us and to ask any questions you might have as you continue to connect with this local church family. Intro to Membership is this Sunday, April 3rd. If you have never been through intro to membership before, we would love to have you join us to learn more about life together as a local church family. Once you sign up, we will send you a packet of things to read through in preparation for the time. We have enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to seeing how God uses us to continue to reach this community with the Gospel!

WHEN: Sun, Apr 3rd at 1PM

Ever wonder

Is There More To Life Than This?

Safety Team

Every Sunday morning, we have a great crew who are there early, and throughout the day, to make sure that everyone who's a part of our Sunday gatherings (including Anthem Kids!) is safe and cared for.

Now that we're at two services, we could use some more people to help keep an eye on our people, and our facilities.

If you're interested in joining this really important team, please reach out to info@anthemchurch.org

Alpha Launch Party

before

We are throwing a HUGE party to celebrate the start of Alpha this spring. We're having food and drinks from local community and will be also featuring one of our favorite partner organizations, Harbor House, a ministry to the Homeless population of the Conejo Valley.

This party is designed to give everyone an awesome night out and a chance to invite a friend or two that you think could be right for Alpha. The party is going to feel like the cocktail hour of a wedding reception where people are free to move around, play a game, or just socialize. We will be making a brief presentation of what Alpha is, along with an invitation to comeback and try it the following week.

Check out the link below for more info and to let us know you'll be there.

WHEN: Thu, Apr 28 at 6-8PM
WHERE: Under the Tent

Last Sunday was All Hands On Deck Sunday where we talked about the church being a family and what it means to contribute to the life of the local church.

If you missed signing up to help make Sunday mornings happen, there's still opportunity to do so. Follow the link below to learn more about the needs and to let us know where you would like to serve.
