Christmas Eve Volunteers Needed

We still have several holes that need to filled to help make each of our Christmas Eve gatherings a success this year. There are two ways that you can jump in and help make the day awesome:

Dessert Corner
We are looking for bakers! We need about 15-20 people to make finger desserts (no cake or pies please). Each person would need to bring 2 dozen of your favorite holiday treats. Use the link below to sign up! If you have any questions, contact Barbara Grant Gould.

Serve at a Gathering
We are also looking for greeters, coffee makers, dessert host, and more, all with smiling faces! If you are available to help, follow the link below to sign up. If you have any questions, contact Celeste Scott.

Save the Date

Save the date for our Anthem Summit coming May 1-2, 2020! Anthem's annual discipleship conference is designed for us to equip and empower each other in focused areas of Kingdom Life. Anthem Summit is a moment for our family of churches to unite around the vision and mission God has given us and for the body to equip each other for life and ministry.

Date: May 1-2, 2020

Serve with Anthem

As we continue to meet in person under changing circumstances, we are once again in a season of “all hands on deck”. We need people for setup and tear down, welcome, coffee, kids bags, communion, tech, and prayer team.

Check out the link below for full details about current needs and to sign up to serve.

Christmas with Anthem

Merry Christmas Anthem Church! We are so excited to bring our community together for two gatherings (outdoors & online) on Thursday, December 24th at 4 and 6 PM. There’s a line from “O Holy Night” that says, “A weary world rejoices...”. That line pings many of our hearts as we have both felt the weariness of the world, yet we rejoice in the salvation that has come through Jesus Christ. Our hope is to provide a safe place for our community to explore the peace and joy that Jesus Christ brings into our lives as we give ourselves completely to him.

Celebrate generosity

THIS SUNDAY, we are gathering at Conejo Creek Park North for Celebrate Generosity! We use our anniversary (we turn 12 on October 10th) to share stories of ministries and church plants locally and globally that are doing amazing work and we give 100% of the offering from all of our family of churches that week into these amazing ministries.

Hope to see you at the park for worship together and be sure to stick around for the taco lunch and games afterwards!

Giving & Generosity

  • Giving At Anthem

Giving cheerfully and sacrificially is a part of worship at Anthem. We give generously because God has first been generous to us. We dream of becoming a church marked by radical generosity. Over ten percent of every dollar goes directly to supporting compassion and church planting work both globally and locally.

Anthem Camping Trip

We are planning a camping trip for our TO church family in June. We have reserved Emma Wood Group Campsite in Ventura from June 9th-12th. We have reserved their 3 group tent camping spots that allows for 120 people, and their RV group camping spot that allows for 50 people for a total of 170.

We need to know how many people are interested to see if this is going to work for our church. If we do not have enough people interested then we will cancel part or all of the reservation. So if you are interested please let us know! If you know other people in our church who would be interested, but may not be reading the Weekly, please forward this to them.

It is for those who do not consider themselves Christians or for those who are rethinking their faith.

We are excited to launch Alpha after Easter, but we need your help. We need a handful of different types of people: cooks, organizers, and friendly people to help make the nights work. Over the last couple years many of you have come to be a part of our Anthem family. We are so excited that you are here with us and we look forward to seasons of life and ministry together. Throughout our history we have run a session called Intro to Membership that describes who we are as a church, what we believe and how that impacts the way we do life together. We are putting together an opportunity for as many of you as are able to walk through this with us and to ask any questions you might have as you continue to connect with this local church family. Intro to Membership is this Sunday, April 3rd. If you have never been through intro to membership before, we would love to have you join us to learn more about life together as a local church family. Once you sign up, we will send you a packet of things to read through in preparation for the time. We have enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to seeing how God uses us to continue to reach this community with the Gospel!

Every Sunday morning, we have a great crew who are there early, and throughout the day, to make sure that everyone who's a part of our Sunday gatherings (including Anthem Kids!) is safe and cared for.

Alpha Launch Party

We are throwing a HUGE party to celebrate the start of Alpha this spring. We're having food and drinks from local community and will be also featuring one of our favorite partner organizations, Harbor House, a ministry to the Homeless population of the Conejo Valley.

This party is designed to give everyone an awesome night out and a chance to invite a friend or two that you think could be right for Alpha. The party is going to feel like the cocktail hour of a wedding reception where people are free to move around, play a game, or just socialize. We will be making a brief presentation of what Alpha is, along with an invitation to comeback and try it the following week.

Check out the link below for more info and to let us know you'll be there.

WHEN: Thu, Apr 28 at 6-8PM

Our main event will be a very practical message from Steve Larson on how to cultivate a life of wisdom in every season of life (youth, young adulthood, later adulthood), but we'll also enjoy an optional disc-golf time, axe throwing, cornhole, and breakfast tacos. It should be super fun for all ages.

Anthem kids corner

Hello Anthem Parents,

We wanted to let you know that starting this Sunday to go along with our “Frameworks” doctrinal series that you are hearing in our main gathering times, Anthem Kids will be going through a doctrinal series as well. We are using the book The Ology to help teach this series, and lining up teachings with those taught up top. We encourage you to pick up the book and read it with your kids. The Ology is a theology book written for kids to understand the things of God, and goes over many of the major doctrines of the faith. While we will be using it for our teaching the next 12 weeks, there are a lot more topics that we will not cover. It's a fun book that you can use as a daily devotional to teach your children theology. We went through it with our family a few years ago and the readings are short, easy to do at breakfast or bedtime, and the illustrations are so beautiful. Click here to order from Amazon for $25.

elder update:

A couple of weeks ago we brought Andrew and Lauren Frey on stage to introduce them and begin a season of examination for eldership. If you haven’t been around for one of these times, part of our process of bringing in new elders is to present them for examination. We ask the church three things:

1. If you have any unresolved relational issues with Andrew or Lauren, please take the initiative to have a conversation with him and work towards reconciliation in that. We have asked Andrew and Lauren to do the same.

2. If you have any knowledge of a biblical reason why Andrew is not qualified for eldership, we ask that you would bring that to one of the current elders for consideration. We ask that you would have the Scriptural basis for disqualification and be prepared to talk through it with us.

3. If you don’t know the Frey family and you are a part of Anthem Church, this is a great season to spend time getting to know them, get a meal with them, coffee, etc.

This season of examination is part of our process of ordaining elders. We’ve spent significant time with the Freys over the last 2 years and if no issues are presented that need attention, we’ll be ordaining them into eldership in three months (November).

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our elder team.

Wake Up Movie Screening

Since the starting days of Anthem Church, we have loved the opportunities we've had to support and equip families who are connected to the foster care community. It's an amazing opportunity to reflect God’s love in often extremely broken and hurting scenarios.

One of these amazing opportunities has been led by Janet Grossman, who's been working for years on developing a feature film that puts a spotlight on human trafficking and its frequent relationship to children in foster care.

The Wake Up film is now being released to theaters, and we would love to have you join us at one of the showings at Regency Theaters in Agoura Sep 9th-15th! Showtimes are at 12:30, 3:30 & 6:30 each day. Follow the links below to get your tickets and to learn more the film.

Our Worship Ministry Team is looking forward to adding a few more people to our Sunday morning worship team! If you're interested, please let us know by emailing Ryan Hinkle at to hear more about o ur audition process, what we're looking for, and any other details!

When: 30 minute time slots from 5-8PM on Monday, September 26th.

Kids helping kids

As we move into our Celebrate Generosity season at Anthem for the next couple weeks, this Sunday in Anthem Kids, we are going to introduce the Kids Helping Kids program, raising money for orphans in Thailand (visit for more information).

Kids will be given plastic tubes that, if filled completely, totals $15 in quarters. They are encouraged to collect money by doing chores, selling lemonade, hosting a bake sale, or really any creative idea that they may have. In Thailand, $15 will feed, clothe, and educate a child for a full week! When we meet at the park next week (Oct 9) for our Celebrate Generosity gathering, we will have buckets for kids to fill with the money they’ve collected. We will continue to collect money throughout the month of October. On Sunday, October 23, Anthem Kids will be hosting a Bake Sale to raise money for ZOE. It’s always great to watch kids be generous!

Celebrate generosity

Join the Anthem family of churches on Sunday, October 9th for Celebrate Generosity Sunday!

From day one, Anthem Church has wanted to do something unique to mark our anniversary. As much as we all love cake, we wanted it to be something that really expressed the heart of God. Each year, we celebrate by taking every penny that comes in for a week (Oct 9-15) and giving it away. ALL OF IT! Click on the link below to learn more about all the initiatives we are going to.

We're meeting at the park for a fun day of celebration together. Arrive around 10am for coffee and yummy breakfast treats before the gathering starts at 10:30am. Tacos for lunch and games on the lawn to follow. Bring a chair or a blanket and come ready for a great day together.

At this time of year, many people are interested in making a “year end gift” to the church. Because we desire to be fully accountable for how we steward finances, and to be in compliance with the IRS, here are the deadlines for giving to be counted as donated in 2022.

Give Online

- One time donation: Must be submitted before midnight on December 31st.

- Recurring donations will be processed on their scheduled date and reported in the year the gift is deducted from your bank account.

Give Via Check or Cash

- Mail in: Envelopes must be postmarked by December 31, 2022

- Handed in: Must be physically delivered on or by Saturday, December 31, 2022. We're sorry, but checks that are handed in after that point, even if it's back-dated to 12/31 or earlier, will be applied to your 2023 statement.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their worship of God by contributing financially to Anthem Church. If you are interested in making an online donation, please do that here:

teaching series

As we dive into this season of teaching through the book of Romans, our hope is that it brings profound Gospel truth and transformation into each person’s life. One of the best ways for that to happen is through the personal study and meditation on God’s Word. We set our teaching calendar in advance and the trust the Spirit if there are particular areas that need increased attention. So this calendar may alter a bit over the course of the series, but this should be a good guideline for spending time reading through and meditating on the Scriptures in preparation for our Sunday gatherings and community groups.

Week 9 — Romans 5:12-21
