Love Your Neighbor

For the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.  – Mark 10:45

Our default mode as human beings is to serve ourselves, but Jesus calls us to something radically different—he calls us to serve him and others.

We believe that God deeply loves all the people and we get the privilege of being the tangible hands and feet that represent his love to our neighbors in the Conejo Valley. We encourage everyone to be active and get involved. If you don’t know where to start, jump in with us with the following community organizations.

Opportunities

  • Conejo Valley High School

We have a growing relationship with Conejo Valley High School where we get to serve 120+ students and staff.  Throughout the year, we’ll have different opportunities to bless and serve this community ranging for work days and hot chocolate bars to the huge thanksgiving lunch feast. • Meals on Wheels Meal Delivery

Love Seniors and Shut-ins: Become a driver that delivers mid-day meals to seniors and a relational check-in. A fantastic way to bring the light of Jesus to a group that is hidden and in need of relationships. Great opportunity with kids and takes roughly 1-2 hours 1x a month.

  • Harbor House Meal Cooking

Feed the homeless: Cook warm or cold meals in your kitchen for 25 people who are in need of food. Deliver them to Harbor house in the late afternoon to be distributed that same day. Great opportunity for community groups together or for those who love to cook. A hot dinner & a cold to-go lunch needed 7 days a week.

  • Open Table with James Storehouse

Be a mentor for aged out foster youth: For many kids who have been in the foster care system, once they hit 18 they suddenly lose most of the support systems around them. Open Table makes an personalized advisory board for each foster kid where they have 5-8 different mentors that all meet for an hour weekly for a year. Mentors help with support and advice to help them navigate the adult world. Table groups are created as needed, so signing up puts you on the interest list for them to contact you when they come available.
